What are the symptoms of type 2 diabetes
Type 2 diabetes can silently be part of your life for many years and you would not even know it. Carrying on your daily life quite unaware of the damage slowly being done, it is not until things get too much for your system to compensate, that the real effects of type 2 diabetes will come crashing in upon your life but contrary to the medical majority type 2 diabetes is curable
The point of this article is to hopefully offer some forewarning. So what are the symptoms of type 2 diabetes? As with any illness, the individual's constitution will play a large part in the equation but some of the main symptoms of type 2 diabetes are as follows:
1.
Ever increasing tiredness and consequently, decreasing energy levels.
2.
Teeth feeling sticky and dirty no matter how much you brush them. This sounds a little ridiculous yet this symptom is one that will become present as things get worse. This is when sugar levels get so bad that it causes excess sugar in your saliva. This is when you really need to do something about it.
3.
Having absolutely no energy to get out of bed in the morning no matter how much sleep you have had. Trust me, you'll know it when you experience it.
4.
Acetic or sharp smelling breath. Similar to what people who are on carb free diets experince and for similar reasons. Look out for consistently strong odour on your breath.
5.
To a certain extent, although one of the lesser mentioned ones, misty eyesight. Unchecked sugar levels will get everywhere in your system, YES EVEN YOUR EYES!
6.
Poor healing from skin abrasions and wounds. Burns, cuts, bites and grazes, watch out for these, they can take weeks and weeks to heal, instead of days. Especially on the feet and hands, where circulation suffers most in diabetics.
7.
Dizzyness or weakness, lack of concentration. As your body's cells become less and less efficient at converting glucose to energy, your body will become more and more starved and as a result feel more washed out and fatigued. One of the first things to suffer as you all know, is your mind. Concentration becomes more difficult.
8.
No.1 on the list of symptoms of type 2 diabetes, is shared by 2 symptoms. They go hand in hand and if you noticed no other things going on in your life, these two alone will be enough to alert your senses. I know they did mine.
Continual thirst and the need to urinate. We are not talking about feeling a little thirsty a couple of times a day, we are talking getting up 5 times a night to drown a pint of water. we are talking gulping down an extra large coffee and the second your cup is placed on the table, your thinking about a nice large bottle of fruit juice. Trust me, you will know if it hits you. I think I averaged about 20 pints of liquid a day for a few weeks then decided something was up. Obviously the flip side to this is the need to visit the toilet. Your body is simply trying to flush the severe levels of glucose out of your body and this is its last ditch effort.
Watch out for this one people.
Some of the descriptions above sound a little scary but remember, your not alone, there are hundreds of millions of people out there suffering the same things, be vigilant and watchful, it could just save your life.
